1. Greenleaf State Park

Visit Muskogee in the Tulsa area and visit Greenleaf State Park. Once there, be sure to enjoy the serene waters and picturesque landscapes at the park. Greenleaf Lake offers 930 acres of fishing area. Drive in from nearby Okmulgee or Muskogee and haul in some crappie, sunfish, and bass. 

2. Lake Texoma State Park

Deep in the south of Oklahoma is where you'll find Lake Texoma State Park. Located almost directly between Madill and Durant, Lake Texoma Tate Park yields a bounty of fishing chances. Be prepared to land striped bass at this southern Oklahoma fishing hot-spot. With 89,000 surface acres, Lake Texoma features 12 marinas – launch your boat and fish the deeper areas. 

3. Great Plains State Park 

Continue exploring southern Oklahoma and find your new favorite fishing spot – head for Mountain Park and visit the Great Plains State Park.

The ideal way to gain access to the Tom Steed Lake and Snyder Lake – an off-shoot – Great Plains State Park is a short drive from Lawton and Chickasaw. Find your way around the 31 miles of shoreline Tom Steed Lake has to offer – there's a swimming beach, plenty of concessions, and lots of room to find a comfortable fishing spot. 

4. Lake Tenkiller

5. Lake Eufaula 

Almost directly north of Mcalester in southeastern Oklahoma is Lake Eufaula. Encompassing nearly 102,000 acres of surface area, Lake Eufaula is the largest person-made lake in the state. You can fish along the nearly 600 miles of shoreline at Lake Eufaula, or launch your boat and try from there.

6. Grand Lake O' The Cherokees 

In northeast Oklahoma, be sure to explore the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and discover Grand Lake O' The Cherokees. Known simply at Grand Lake by locals and avid anglers, this top Oklahoma fishing destination proves to be an ideal choice for those who prefer to bass fish – largemouth bass and white bass are known to flourish at Grand Lake. You'll find easy access to Grand Lake from nearby Grove.

7. Lake Keystone

Find Lake Keystone almost directly west of downtown Tulsa. Explore it and the rest of Keystone State Park for an unmatched fishing adventure in Oklahoma. Be sure to visit the Pier 51 Marina when you visit. You'll find stunning scenes all around you thanks to the sandy beaches, tree-lined shores, and high, grassy bluffs. Fishing at the lake is especially good for largemouth bass.

8. Lake Murray

Most easily accessed from I-35, Lake Murray is a nearly ideal fishing destination in southern Oklahoma. Drive in from nearby Madill or Ardmore and check out the nearly 12,500 acres of surface area – fish the many miles of shoreline, or launch your boat for access to those harder to reach places.

Most anglers at Lake Murray land their day's worth of smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Lake Murray is only one aspect of Lake Murray State Park, which was Oklahoma's first state park

9. Fort Gibson Lake 

Many who visit Oklahoma enjoy the challenge of fishing for paddlefish. One of the very best places to try your luck is at Fort Gibson Lake. Only minutes from Wagoner, and a scenic drive away from Broken Arrow, Fort Gibson Lake is known for it's breadth of colors – the fall season creates a wide ranges of hues on the area's foliage.

You'll certainly have your share of fun trying to land a paddlefish, but don't be shy with other types – black bass, crappie, and catfish are known to be bountiful hauls at Fort Gibson Lake.

10. Kiamichi River 

With so many lakes spread across Oklahoma, it's easy to forget about the many rivers and streams, each yielding great fishing in their own right. Kiamichi River stretches 165 miles from the Red River on the Texas border, to eastern Le Flore County, not far from Arkansas.

Anglers are known to land channel catfish, white bass, and flathead catfish from the waters along Kiamichi River. Any visit to Mcalester should yield a trip to the Kiamichi River.
