Welcome to Stillwater
Stillwater Has Definitely Still Got It
Learn a thing or two.
Stillwater is home to Oklahoma State University, where the students aren’t the only ones who get educated. The University hosts a number of cultural events and live performances throughout the year. Check the schedule during your visit to see what’s happening.
Catch a game.
Catch a Cowboys game in Stillwater.
Oklahoma State University is also a great place for sports fans to feel some school spirit, thanks to the passion surrounding the Oklahoma State Cowboys football team. Don your orange and black and gather with students and fans at Boone Pickens Stadium as the Cowboys duke it out each fall, taking on Division I competition in the Big 12 conference.
See masters of Nelsons, half and full.
Wrestling fans, especially purists, will love the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. The museum honors the best collegiate and freestyle wrestlers from throughout American history with exhibits, displays, and memorabilia.
Animal lovers young and old will get a kick out of the Lost Creek Safari. It’s a chance to get up close and personal with a wide variety of animals. Pet a goat, feed a camel, race a sloth – adventure awaits.
Stoke your sense of wonder.
Kids and adults both will appreciate the Oklahoma Wondertorium, where all kinds of hands-on, educational exhibits and activities invite kids to learn about life in Oklahoma and the world at large. Kids can conduct experiments, pretend, or just run wild.
Kayaking in Lake McMurty.
Tread some water.
Lake McMurtry Natural Resource and Recreation Area, set just northeast of Stillwater, is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and more. Don’t feel like getting wet? The lake is surrounding by great hiking trails down which plenty of sunset vantage points await.
See a show.
Rumored to be where country music superstar Garth Brooks cut his teeth, the Tumbleweed Dancehall and Concert Venue is located on the northeastern outskirts of town. Though country is the default, it’s not the only kind of music you’ll find here – check the schedule during your visit and pack your dancing shoes.
Grab a drink.
If the summer gets a little steamy, cool of with a cold one at Iron Monk Brewery. Convently located right downtown, the brewery boasts a bevy of brews, both local and from all over the world. Plan a designated driver and come for the party or bring a growler and fill it up to go.
