Visiting Southern Oklahoma
You’ll find southern Oklahoma to be as inviting and pleasant as ever this fall. Whether you head out to Lawton, home to Cameron University and the Lawton Municipal Golf Course, or if your visit has you exploring Durant and Madill, your trek through southern OK will be met with an array of festivals, events, concerts, and more.
Don’t miss out on any of the excellent and thrilling college football action this fall across southern Oklahoma. In Durant, you’ll be in Savage Storm territory. Visit the Paul Laird Field on September 10th for the SOSU Savage Storm home opener against the Ouachita Baptist Tigers.
Before the September 10th kickoff, be sure to enjoy some pre-game festivities at the True Blue BBQ Cook-Off held at Tailgate Alley just across from the Paul Laird Field. The Savage Storm will play throughout the fall, finishing their home schedule on November 5th against the Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils.
This fall and into the winter in Durant, you’ll be treated to a diverse lineup of excellent live music. Make your way to the Choctaw Casino on September 9th and 10th to see pop legends Duran Duran live as part of their The Paper Gods Tour. Shows starts at 8 p.m.
Enjoy a New Year’s Eve celebration at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville when classic rock icon Don Henley takes the stage starting at 8 p.m. Tickets range between $85 and $350, and you’ll want to leave your “Dirty Laundry” at home. The WinStar Casino will also be hosting a living legend in country music, Willie Nelson. Make plans to visit Thackerville on November 11th and catch Willie’s show at 9 p.m.
Don’t pass on your chance to visit and explore the charming city of McAlester. From September 8th through 10th, McAlester will be hosting their annual Pittsburgh County Free Fair at the McAlester Expo Event Center. Each day, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., you’ll be treated to a bevy of rides, games, food vendors and expos.
