Visiting Tulsa & Northern Oklahoma

Summer in northern Oklahoma can mean a wide range of outdoor adventures for the whole family. What’s more, communities from  Tulsa to Cushing to West Siloam Springs are gearing up for more ways to enjoy a sunny day than ever, as sports, special events, festivals, and more fill local event calendars.

Long sunny days mean there’s more time to get out and explore Oklahoma’s vast terrain, and day trippers can cover the most ground by packing up the car and heading out on a scenic driving tourRoadside attractions await in every direction, and communities like Muskogee and Locust Grove make great places to stop and stretch.

Those long days filled with summer sun also mean there’s more time to work on your swing, and northern Oklahoma is home to countless top-flight golf courses. Tulsa visitors enjoy quick access to LaFortune Golf Course, and players in  Muskogee or Glenpool will find the finely groomed, 18-hole course to be well worth the short drive.

The arts are alive in Grove and the 2016 Art on the Lake event is one way to check the pulse on August 6th. Her-Ber Village Museum in Grove is set ot host a full day of artistic activities, hands-on fun, and vibrant art displays, all on the shores of Neosho River. It all gets underway at 9 a.m.

Hungry? Thirsty? Take a taste of the town on August 27th, as some of Tulsa's greatest brewers and restaurants come together at the Tulsa Expo Center for the 2016 Wild Brew, a day of food, drinks, entertainment, and fun. Skip dinner and come hungry – things get cooking at 5 p.m.

Bring the kids out to the 2016 Let It Be Natural Arts Festival on September 10th. It’s a day of hands-on fun and vibrant art displays at Chandler Park in Tulsa. There will be plenty of kids’ activities and even a playground. It all starts at 10 a.m.

That same night, the living dead walk – and run – in Muskogee. The Castle of Muskogee will be getting into the Halloween spirit a little early with the 2016 The Castle Zombie Run on September 10th. Join the living at the castle and make your way across the 60-acre propery while dodging zombies and making it through the obstacle course. It begins at 1 p.m.
